Happy B'day Card

This is my first attempt at a fancy card.

I don't have all the card making goodies yet, so I improvised a little.  The card is made from the glossy back cover of a booklet of scrapbooking paper that I bought. Then I stuck on some glitter design card stock that I had.  I used acrylic paint to paint the happy b'day stamp and stamp it on white paper and then I cut it out with fancy scissors and painted the edges and stuck it to the card with raised foam stickers.
I used a cream ribbon and tied it around the card and stuck it down with sticky a dot, and to make it look a little more interesting, I tied a piece of gold ribbon into the cream one.

And then the puppy got a hold of the card and chewed on one of the corners, so I stuck some corner stickers over it to cover it.

Crafty Recycling - Glass jars & bead netting

I just can't throw away empty glass bottles, there's so many things one can do with them!  Like using them as storage for pens, pencils, paint brushes, rulers etc.  Here I've decorated some jars with bead netting.  They make cute gifts too, filled with things like sweets, chocolates or coffee, or fill it up with beach sand from your vacation, decorate the lid with a beach theme and use it as a paperweight.

Crafty Recycling - Using Garden "Waste"

Using things from your garden is a great way to bring some natural elements into your home.  I've got a huge box full of little twigs cut into small pieces, that we've kept after pruning our fruit trees.  Here's a candle that i decorated using those twigs:

All I did was glue the twigs around a square candle using a glue gun, and decorated with some golden wire ribbon and mini mirrors.  These make great personalized gifts! :)

Wedding Album Project - Part 1

I'm doing our wedding album in my spare time, so it'll likely take a while to finish, but here's the first part!  So here goes my first post, the album cover and page 1 inside with the wedding invite:

This ribbon was used to tie the invite, which was rolled up like a little scroll.  I made a cute little beaded butterfly to decorate the ribbon on the invite.

Tearing the matting paper creates a soft contrast for your featured photo or design.  Painting the area where you intend to tear with a paint brush dipped in water, and then carefully tearing the paper while wet, creates this effect.
