Diaper Cake - Baby Shower Gift

I finally got a chance to make my first diaper cake! (well, we call them nappy cakes here...).
And for those who haven't made one yet, it's simple, here's how...first, the nappy cake ingredients:
I rolled up the nappies and secured them with rubber bands:
I formed a cirlce with them (my husband had to help me with this part, you need more than 2 hands), and at the same time added some of the "cake filling" inside so that the circle wouldn't collapse in when I tie the rubber band around the outside of the circle to keep the nappies together:
I joined a few rubber bands together with knots and a paperclip to make one big one to put around the outside of the circle:
Then I went on to the second tier - it's the same as the first, just a little small in diameter:
The top 2 tiers were only made of nappies.  And then for the cake topper!
I made a little sign for the donkey(?) to hold too.

Then I could start decorating the cake.  First I layered 2 different ribbons around each tier:
And I placed little paper roses in the spaces between all the nappies - it just looked incomplete without something there:
The mum-to-be likes Winnie the Pooh, so I googled some pics, printed & cut 'em out and glued them on the top tier with sticky dots:
Then the next tier down, I decorated with stickers:
And the next one with cute heart thingies I found at the craft store.  I thought they matched the green patterns on the nappies perfectly, and the yellow ones sort of matched the Pooh pics:
And for the bottom tier I used a stencil to cut out little flowers, glittered them around the edges and put a bling on:
I had to secure the ribbon around the tiers with glue dots and staples because the decorations were too heavy and it pulled the ribbons down.
And ta-da.....
And the mum and dad-to-be loved it (and so did the rest of my family) and that made it all worth it. :D
Oh, I ended up getting a silver cake board at my mum's house, to put the cake on - it presented a little nicer than a scrap piece of cardboard that was too small for the cake, hehe.

And I had to make a card too:
And the message inside, hehe:
I cut out the size of the nappies from the packet and stuck it in the card too, just so they'd know what size it was.

Purple & Silver Floral Card

Aaaaaand, the last card for my gran!  This one's my favourite, I love the colours and the flowers and the ribbon and the metallic paper....ok, so the whole card.  :)
I did a lot of layering with the papers, and the top floral design one is vellum with silver flowers.
I glued on a paper flower and added a bling...oops, the glue was still a little wet, but I couldn't wait for it to dry, you know how it goes.

Gold Stamped Card

This is the second card I've made for my gran's b'day:

I used a lovely texture metallic paper for this card, as well as a pretty stamp stamped with gold ink to match.
I didn't know what to put in the centre of the stamp, since it seems that it makes space for you to do something there.  This flower is the best I could come up with from my stash of goodies.  I hope it doesn' look too out of place on the card... :O
As usual, there was a lot of inking around the edges going on too.
The stamp without the flash, so that you can see the design more clearly:

Red Dry Embossed Card

It's my gran's b'day on Sunday, so I decided to make her some cards that she can use instead of one on which I've written and then it's just another useless thing laying around her house, hehe - here's the first one I made for her:
I embossed red card stock, glued on some decorations in the centre, but it looked too bland.  So I took a silver metallic marker and blotted a little sponge with it - I used the sponge to ink the edges of the card, and I went over the embossed design with the sponge too.  Oh, and I used a corner punch as well.

Ta da!  :)

Black & White Filligree Note Card

Here's another little mini card from my Just a note... range mini note cards:
I decorated the white card with black paper on which I drew a line with water and tore it to create that effect.  I glued on a silver filligree goodie and a clear bling.  Quick & simple!

Pink & Yellow Flower Note Card

I've finally started making some goodies for sale, and these mini note cards are the first items. :D  This mini card is part of my Just a note... range.
Don't they just look all cute and professional? Hehe.... I make my own little envelopes too to match my card sizes.
Well, I bought some pretty striped coloured card stock and put it through my cuttlebug.  I inked the edges of the card with pink & yellow ink and glued on a paper flower and a bling.  And voila!

Now I need to get busy with item no. 2! :)

Very Blue B'day Card

I made this card for The Sweet Stop's sketch challenge:
I Cuttlebugged blue card stock and glued it onto the white card base, and decorated some more white card stock with which to embellish the card further.  The white card stock at the back was dabbed over with an ink pad to give it some colour, and the b'day piece was cut out with fancy scissors and the edges inked as well, and mounted on 3D dots.

I added some ribbons at the back to follow the sketch design, and added a lot of blings & flowers....and a butterfly.
And ta-da!  A very blue b'day card is born. :)

Purple Garden Themed Card

I've finally decided to make another card again...mostly because of my new CUTTLEBUG!, which I got in the mail yesterday! :D  I had to try it out.  So I made a card for Cupcake Craft Challenges' "in the garden" theme.
For those who don't know what a Cuttlebug is...(my mum may be wondering, hehe), well, it's the thing that made those little flowers on the purple paper there in the background. :D  Ok, so I only have 2 embossing folders so far and hope to get some more next month.  This goodie is gonna make card making so much more fun! :D (& pretty) :)
I used white card stock and smudged some purple pencil shavings on it, and on the small piece behing the flower, and inked the edges with an ink pad.  And added some blings.  I also cut out all the squares, including the card itself, with my Fiskars cutting goodie and it's square stencils.

:D
