Wedding Album Part 6 - Finally Finished!

After about 2 1/2 years our wedding album is finally finished! :D  I started it ages ago but then I lost the mood for doing scrapbooking, so I finally got back to it 2 weeks ago and finished it. :)
Here's part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4 and part 5 of the album.
This was the "I Do" part of the ceremony:
 The rings part:
 The "just married" chapel exit:
The background paper is so pretty that I didn't want to cover it up with too much decor, but I made a little "just married" floating balloon-looking thingie:

Wedding Photo Framed Scrapbook Style (And a Delicious Cake!)

I've framed another one of our wedding photos! I was going to decorate the frame as well, but I thought it would be overkill, so I left it as is...which is nice because I like the dark frame.
I used a lovely purple butterfly and petal themed scrapbook paper for the background, and glued the photo on off-centre as I wanted the butterfly from the paper to be visible as well (since our wedding was butterfly themed after all).
I hot glued some purple roses onto the glass (I used these roses to decorate at the wedding too), and added some pretty photo corner stickers onto the photo:
I put it on the table in our entrance hall:
And then....to end this post off on a delicious sweet note....
Behold the Tres Leches cake....This photo doesn't do it justice - it looks quite ordinary, but with ingredients like condensed milk, evaporated milk and cream, this cake is anything but ordinary. :D  Mine should probably have looked a tad more moist, but for some inexplicable reason I only added 1 cup cream to the sauce instead of 2 as the recipe requires.... :0

Here's the recipe:

Cake
1 1/2 cups     flour
1 tsp             baking powder
1/2 cup         butter (recipe says unsalted, but it's just fine with salted butter which I used!)
1 cup            white sugar
5                   eggs
1/2 tsp          vanille essence

Sauce
2 cups           whole milk (of course I substituted this for CREAM)
1 can             condensed milk
1 can             evaporated milk

Topping
1 cup             white sugar
1 1/2 cups      heavy cream
1 tsp              vanilla essence

(this cake is yummy as is so I didn't bother with the topping....it really doesn't need it!  It's the sauce that makes this cake)

*   Preheat oven to 175 degrees C.  Grease and flour 1 cake tin.
*   Mix flour & baking powder together & set aside.
*   Cream butter & sugar.  Add eggs and 1/2 tsp vanilla & beat well.
*   Add flour mix 2 tbs at a time & mix well until blended.
*   Pour batter into cake tin and bake for about 30 mins or until ready.  Poke cake many times with fork.
*   Sauce - combine milk (um, CREAM), condensed milk & evaporated milk. Pour over top of cooled cake and let absorb.
*   Topping - whip cream, sugar & vanilla until thick. Spread over top of cake & keep refrigerated.

Note - you'll have place this cake in a container with a high rim (at least 2 inches high to be safe), otherwise the sauce is going to overflow and we don't want to waste all that sauce, do we???

Enjoy! :D

Wedding Album Project - Part 5

I told y'all I was on a roll here, hehe! Another page of my wedding album is completed!
This is part 1 of the ceremony:
I added some butterflies around this photo (and blings of course) - these were the butterflies that my sister threw down the isle:
Some more decorations...I stuck some wedding sticker goodies onto metallic purple scraps that I had left from making the guest seating plans, then I painted the edges white and added some bubble goodies:

Something about them just makes me think of road signs....but anyway!
I added some patterned photo corner decorations on this photo and added another wedding chip board embellishment through which I tied a white ribbon:

Wedding Album Project - Part 4

I'm on a roll now with this wedding album...hehe.  What better way to spend a rainy day than in your craft room, right?? :D  The only thing missing around here though is chocolate....how could we neglect to stock up on chocolates this weekend?! :0

Anyway, I've finished the second page of photos from just before the ceremony:
Here's me and my sister.  I decorated the photo with pretty photo corner stickers, and made a little tag from a chip board die cut, added some sticker letters and a purple butterfly brad:
I also added some wedding bells to the top corners of the page.  Here's me, also decorated with photo corner stickers and a bell.  I added some blings randomly on the page too:
A close up of these lovely photo corner stickers....I love 'em!
Here's a photo of me and my best friend on the way to the chapel (we were trying to figure out my new cell phone, lol).  I framed this photo and also made a tag saying "bff" (meaning "best friend forever" in case you didn't know), "best friend" wouldn't have fit on this teeny tag, so I had to settle for "bff", so.....I suppose we'll have to remain best friends FOREVER now....hehe!
And then, the left bottom corner of the page seemed too empty and I had to find something to put there, so I thought of writing a cute little sister/friend poem thingy or something, so this is what I came up with (I got these words from the net from some anonymous writer, but this was a sister quote, so I added "friends" in there too):
I wrote it on white card stock with a purple (scented) pen and added some blings yet again, glued the paper onto the scrapbook page and stuck a 3D mounted frame over it.   Not my neatest hand writing day, but nevermind, I couldn't wait for that day to come, heh heh!
I also decided to make use of my new buttons!
But I didn't want to over-decorate the page, as the paper was so pretty, it served to decorate the page adequately:

And that's 5 out of 20 pages completed! Whew! :)

Wedding Album Project - Part 3

I decided to get some work done on my wedding scrapbooking for a change!
I've done the reception hall page, and one of the pages for photos before the ceremony.
Here's the reception:
These are photos of the seating plans that I made, and of the table layouts...and the menu which I made too.
At the top of the page I glued some purple vellum paper, then "threaded" silver trimmed white ribbon through a chip board die cut label goodie and used silver stickers to spell out "reception" - I also added 3 little blings:
Then I added some glass pebbles to the page - I used these to decorate the tables in the hall, and I like using actual things from the event to decorate my scrapbook pages:
Some more decorations...I added a little mirror heart which I also used to decorate the seating plans with (you can see my seating plans in this post if you want):
And some more little decorations - little bubble blings and pretty photo corner stickers:
I have 2 pages showing photos taken just before the ceremony, and here's the first one that I've finished:
The pearly strings and pink bow are printed onto the actual scrapbook paper in case you were wondering.

I added some more chip board die cut goodies, and the flowers I decorated with some blings:

I added a cute rosy embellishment (I bought it just like that in a wedding decorating pack) to one of the photos.  On the other corners I just added cream pearls (you can see them in the full layout above):
Another photo I decorated with more chip board die cut photo corners, to which I added blings again:
I cut one of the photos smaller and added a frame around it, and......you guessed it.....I added more blings!

Another Wedding Card

So, after my mum saw this card that I made for the wedding we're all going to this Saturday, she asked me if I could make her one as well, so I put this together this evening:
I started off with white card stock, then added on a patterned card stock.  On the left, I folded around and glue-dotted a golden ribbon to the patterned card stock, and stuck on some 3D wedding themed embellishments all over the card.
I also stamped their initials on white card stock, inked the edges, and glued it on:
Onto the ribbon I glued some relationship/wedding related words, which I printed out on white card stock, and I inked the edges as well:
I think it turned out quite interesting, and definitely something different...I hope she likes it too, otherwise I'm adding "wedding card" to my shopping list for tomorrow, hehe. :)

Crafty Recycling - Twig Decorated Candle

It's my friend's wedding this Saturday, and one of the gifts I'm giving her is this candle which I've decorated:
I hot glued twigs from our garden all around the candle, then took 2 different colours of raffia and wound it around the candle.  The lower white raffia I didn't wind around, instead I cut a few strands of equal length and together tied them into a bow around the candle.  Here's the front:
I hot glued mini heart mirrors around the candle - a bigger one in front and 3 smaller ones around the sides and back.  Beneath the bow I glued a filigree leaf...because it looked kinda empty below the bow!
Here's a side view:
So, I hope she likes it. :)
